Mendota Public Pool

In 2024 City Staff met with an engineering team to determine the fate of the pool. Burbach Aquatics Inc. surveyed and determined that although the pool has been well maintained it was determined that the best option was to build a new pool with estimates at $6.7 million.

Staff did find another company that has successfully fixed old community pools and reviewed the pool in spring of 2025. The Company shared that the pool could possibly be fixed and began to draft plans which were completed in winter 2025.

In the meantime the pool was open in the 2025 season, but was only able to remain open with water constantly being poured in to keep water levels maintained.

The repair design came in with an estimate of just under $1 million and a 10-year warranty. Since then new cracks and concerns to piping have been discovered, so there is no way to open the pool this year.

As for the repairs, the engineering designs have been completed and permits through the state have been submitted, but this process can take 8+ months. So we wait.

Understanding the impact this will have for youth and families this summer, city staff through the Live Well Mendota grant project have been working hard to create some great activities for youth this summer. For full details on summer activities, click HERE.

The City has also worked with other organizations to make them aware of the situation and encourage additional activities for the summer. The City will hire approximately 8-10 youth over 16 as well to assist with youth programming and city projects. Applications and job details will be available after spring break.
